Delete your ShellTime account
These are the steps to delete your account for ShellTime: Developer Analytics, the service at shelltime.xyz and its apps for Android, iOS and Mac. You can read this page and request deletion by email without signing in.
Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription. Cancel ShellTime Pro in Google Play or in your Apple account's subscriptions, or on the website if you subscribed there, so you aren't charged again. Any remaining Pro time and AI credits end with the account.

Request deletion without the app or a login
Email [email protected] from the address on your ShellTime account and include your username. If you no longer have that address, tell us which account it is and how you sign in. We may ask for more to confirm that the account is yours before we delete it. What is deleted and kept is the same as below.
When your account is deleted
- By default, your account is deleted 24 hours after you confirm, whichever app or page you use. We email you when deletion is scheduled and when it is complete.
- To cancel within those 24 hours, sign in with GitHub, Google, Apple or a passkey. Signing in with an email link or a password does not cancel it. If that is how you sign in, email us as soon as you can.
- If you choose Delete immediately, deletion starts about a minute after you confirm and cannot be cancelled.
What is deleted
These are permanently removed from ShellTime's database:
- Your account: your profile, email address, username, plan details, linked sign-in accounts, passkeys and sign-in records.
- Settings, API tokens, MCP connections, and registered devices with their push tokens.
- Shell command history and its metadata, computers, shell aliases and dotfiles.
- AI coding agent data: events, metrics, traces, session summaries and the pull requests linked to them, plus the Claude and Codex rate limits the CLI reported.
shelltime qquestions and answers, and AI usage records.- Editor activity: heartbeats and activity sessions.
- GitHub App installation links, the pull requests recorded for you and your GitHub usage totals.
- Reports, notifications, export records, career entries, and webhooks with their delivery records.
- The internal-network check results on your account and any answers you gave to them.
- Your team memberships and the team invitations you sent. A team is deleted with its last member, along with its invitations. If you lead a team with other members, the earliest-joined member becomes its lead, and the invitations you sent stop working.
- ShellTime's records of your orders and invoices, including Google Play and App Store purchases.
What is kept, and for how long
These stay after your account is deleted:
Archived AI prompts
The text of prompts you sent from Claude Code and Codex without encryption, with common credential shapes replaced by [REDACTED], plus the model, agent and time. Prompts sent encrypted are never archived. We clear the account and session fields, but we don't treat these prompts as anonymous: the text itself can identify you, and on some rows an internal event ID still contains your former account number or session ID.
How long: Permanently.
Deletion record
A snapshot made when the account is deleted, for audit and review: your email address, name, username, account number, profile and picture URLs, the profile your sign-in provider sent us, Stripe customer ID, plan end date, account dates, whether the account was an administrator, and how many items of each data type you had.
How long: No set period. It is not deleted automatically.
Security and internal-network logs
Sign-in audit entries (IP address, approximate location, browser or app details, sign-in method and result) and internal-network check entries, recorded when a request's headers match ByteDance's or Alibaba's internal networks (IP address, approximate location, time zone, browser or app details and the matching headers). The link to your account is removed.
How long: No set period. They are not deleted automatically.
Community board totals
Your activity stays counted in the daily totals of the public global board, which don't show who contributed. Internal account numbers stored with some totals are cleared after 35 days.
How long: 35 days for word counts, 400 days for other totals.
Data exports
A CSV export you requested before deleting stays in file storage until its scheduled removal.
How long: 7 days after the export was created.
Team invitations and account-link requests
Invitations other people sent to your email address, and requests to link a sign-in account to yours (the provider's email address, username, picture and profile, and the request's IP address).
How long: No set period. They are not deleted automatically.
Server logs
Our logging service holds server log entries, which can include your account number, IP address, a masked form of your email address and your computer's name.
How long: 14 days.

Deleting your ShellTime account doesn't remove what these companies already hold. Their own terms decide how long they keep it.

- Stripe holds your customer record and payment history if you paid on the website, and WeChat Pay and Alipay hold their records of payments made through them.
